Last Day of 2008

2008 seems to pass by very fast. Maybe is because of alot events happening during the year. So what had happened during the last 355 days?

- after 1 year plus of searching and viewing flats, hubby and me finally found our flat in March

- had our traditional wedding and dinner in mid may

- started my new life living with my in-laws

- got our keys to the new flat in early july

- discovered that i am pregnant in end august

- started renovating the house in sept (but till now still unfinished. left the carpentry works)

- attended sis's rom in mid sept, so happy for her

- as per hubby's wish, bb is a boy!

- shopping for new flat's lighting, sanitary wares, sofas etc is not fun at all!

So what is there to look for next year for me? I suppose most of the time it will evolve around bb. Going for pre-natal classes, more check-ups and finally the birth of bb in end april. Haha. Other than bb, there is another thing we are looking forward. That is moving and living in our new flat. Hopefully my carpenter can speed up the construction of the furniture then we can have our house warming and bb's 满月 together, 一举两得.

Onisuka Tiger + Tokidoki

This is a new collaboration between Onisuka Tiger and Tokidoki for Spring 2009. Are they cute? They are on pre-order now at shops till 28th Dec and retailing at S$199. Abit steep on the price though. There is also the pink and white version. Sis is contemplating to get the black pair. She already own 2 pairs of Onisuka Tiger shoes! I also like the shape and design of the shoe. But will it be too kiddish to wear them on a going to be 30 year old's feet?

Xmas Celebration 131208

Had a early xmas celebration with my poly pals yesterday. We had lunch at Dome Park Mall. There are the participants.

1st is of course Me!

2nd is Miss Jiahui.

3rd is Miss Wynne aka Mrs Chan.

4th is Mr Tony.

Last but not least is Miss Denise who is soon-to-be Mrs Lim. After an hour plus of chit chat and food, we had our usual pressie exchange.

In the end, we are all happy women and man. Merry Xmas!

Pregnancy Week 20

Went for my routine check-up last Sat and had detailed scanning. The Doctor checked every organ of bb to ensure everything was ok. There is just one finding. It was a white spot on the left side of bb's heart. The spot is nothing serious but it increases the probability of bb being down syndrome. My probability now is 1:344 and the cut off probability for "抽洋水" is 1:250. Therefore it is neither here nor there. So Doctor asked us to consider whether to do it or not as the test will be a definite answer whether bb will have genetic problems. Hubby does not want bb and me to do it as he thinks bb will be ok and there is a 1% risk of having miscarriage.

Apart from the above, we were also being told and shown the sex of bb. *drum rolls* is a HE! Hubby was so smug about it and he has this "i told you so" look on his face. Haha! Previously he keep telling me that bb definitely is a boy and occasionally he will look at my tummy and say "bb boy". So his prediction is true. Hehe!

We were also told by Doctor that I will start be feel some movements of bb and these few days I can feel some fluttering movements in the tummy! Soon, I will be feeling the actual punches and kicks from bb because he is a active boy! That is what the Doctor says whenever we are doing the scanning.

Reading

This novel made me cry! First time I read a novel that had my tears flowing down enough to fill a small bucket.

A friend introduced me to this author and this is the second book I have read from her. But this one is great! Kept me on the toes and wanting to finish to get to the ending. However the ending was something unexpected. That explains for the tears. Hubby still laughed at me and called me silly for crying over a novel.

Now I am moving to her next novel called "Vanishing Acts". Looks not bad too.

Pregnancy Week 19

Yippee is Friday again! And tomorrow I am going for detailed scanning of bb. Hopefully bb will be good and let Doctor see every part of the body.

Till now I still find it hard to believe that there is another small one growing inside me. Haha! Maybe it happened too fast, so right now I am slowly accepting and treasuring the little as my tummy becomes bigger. Hehe!

Actually the first trimester of my pregnancy was not very smooth sailing. I do not have much morning sickness, I only experienced slight nauseous during the day and occasionally I will throw up at night. Other than that I look like my usual self, just that I become more "fleshy". But I need to see the gynae every week as my amniotic water was low. Doctor was concerned about it as it may lead to some problems. Nothing can be done except to monitor closely and rest more. We were so scared that we went for second opinion. However, the answer is the same. Can only wait and see.

Luckily, after the first trimester the amniotic water returned to normal. I guess is the balanced diet and more sleep that helps. So now we are more relieved.

Now is the beginning of the 2nd trimester and my appetite grew even more. I would feel hungry 2-3 hrs after I have taken my breakfast and lunch. That is where the biscuits and milk come in to curb the growling sound in my stomach. Haha! Lucky for hubby, I do not have much pregnancy cravings and if I have, it can be put on hold until we got the time to go eat it. :)

Renovation Part 3

Actually there is nothing to update about the new flat renovation as most of the work had been completed except for the carpentry work. We are still waiting for the carpenter to come out with the cabinets drawings. They have yet to construct and hubby have been chasing me for it. But the carpenters are currently busy with my company's projects, so will have to wait. Hopefully we can get all these done by end of Dec.

However, during the weekend we manage to purchase some of the big item electric appliances. We got them from Harley Norman where there is sales going on and they gave us quite a good price. These are what we have gotten.

Madagascar : Escape 2 Africia

Went to watch the movie yesterday when hubby and I went to get his Sony Ericisson X1 phone at AMK hub.

The show is hilarious! Though it was short, it was enjoyable. I think bb enjoys it too. Haha!

Mr and Mrs Chan

Wednesday was my poly buddy and my hubby buddy big day! Yes yes, it was through them I got to know my hubby. They are also the first persons to be informed that we are together because they are our "mei ren". Haha!

I was supposed to be part of the jie mei entourage, due to me being preggie I can't be part of the them. Can only helped them to think of ways to sabo the guys. My MIL even reminded me that I can't even go up to their bridal suite due to some superstitious stuff. So I have to linger around the reception to wait for the lovely bride to come down.

Dinner was great and I was laughing away when viewing the video of the morning session. It was truly very funny when saboing the guys. Too bad I missed it.

Hi Tea Buffet

Celebrated my mama's bdae at 老北京 to have hi tea buffet. Saw the recommendation from the Channel 8 TV program. But it wasn't as good as it was told. Nevertheless, we still stuffed ourselves with the food (especially me!). Haha!

Did not manage to take any photos of the food until we are finished. I like the DIY popiah best. The rest of the food was so so only.

New Member

Let's welcome the new comer in our family! *Applause* The scan was taken 1 week back and now he/she is 14 weeks old. It was a really surprised surprise as hubby and me only got married in mid of May. Haha! That explains for the bloated stomach and tiredness I got recently.

Hopefully by the next appointment we will be able to know whether it is a bb boy or gal. Love you, bb.

New Snack

Bought these from NTUC on Monday. It is bite size biscuits but more crispy like crackers. Since I can't eat crackers, so I got them to satisfy my cravings and also as snack in between meals. Haha! There is even a healthy sign on the bottom of the package noting that it is oven toasted. Yummy!

Renovation Part 2

We are now into end of the 6th week of renovation. Most of the works had been done. What is outstanding are :-

• Installation of light fittings,powerpoint and switches
• Design and construction of carpentry works
• Finding bedroom ceiling lights
• Laminated flooring for bedrooms

Random Thoughts

Life had been quite a routine for me these few weeks. Weekdays will be working and going home for dinner and sleep. Weekends were spent sourcing for sanitary wares and lightings for our new flat.

Come to think of it, it been a rather long time I met up with my friends. Luckily I managed to meet up with a couple of them last Sat. Had lunch at NYDC cafe wheelock place, followed by some shopping.

These days, I have been feeling more tired than usually and usually will be in dreamland before 11.30pm. No more late nights for me. So will try to off work early so that will have ample time to rest.

Is Thursday already, 1 more day to weekend. Yeah this Sat is my off day! Got doc appointment on Sat morning and thereafter meeting with contractor at new flat to discuss some construction stuffs.

a new serial by Raine Yang. Very hilarious, my cup of tea. Haha! In the show, Raine speaks with a very funny accent as she is suppose to be a gal that is more out-going, talkative etc, not those 淑女 type. She enlist help from Wilbur to transform her into a 淑女 so that she is able to look good in front of primary school friend.

Renovation Part 1

Now we are into the 3rd week of the renovation. Well there is some hiccups along the way but we managed to solved the issues. Think they will be finishing the wet works by this week, so will be starting on the electrical, ceiling and plastering work soon.

Mrs Tan

Last Sunday was my sister ROM ceremony. It was held at a Italian restaurant at Purvis St. So she is now legally Mrs Tan! Congrats! Feel so happy for her. Looking forward to her chinese customary wedding next year October.

Rachael Bdae Celebration

This is Rachael. She is my hubby's niece. We celebrated her 3rd bdae at home with her fave Tom & Jerry strawberry cake and pizzas. She enjoyed herself truly and was very eager to blow out the candles.

Photo time with my in-laws and whole family. Currently my MIL is looking after Rachael. Therefore I will get to see her after I get home from work during the weekdays. She will always say the same things to me when I am taking my bath or eating my dinner.

"Kau-mu, you be careful ok?" "I wait outside for you." "Kau-mu, you must eat finish all the vegetables/meat/fish." Now she can even recite all the months from Jan to Dec. Nowadays kids are getting smarter and smarter.

Big Tummy

I feel so FAT and BLOATED! Food does'nt seems to be digesting fast, thus making my tummy look so big and bloated. Feel so depressed whenever I see myself in the mirror....

Finally we manage the nail down the final price with the contractor. Will be hacking most of the flooring including both toilets and kitchen and redoing everything. Renovation will start after the 7th month and hopefully it will be completed within 2 months.

Here is how our new flat look like before the renovation. Now will need to start shopping for the materials for the flat, eg tiles, sanitary wares, lighting etc.

Captured this moment during the NDP last Saturday when the Dark Knights were soaring through the sky. Wanted to take photos of the fire works but hubby and I went out to meet some friends before the fire works show starts.

stress?

I am not a frequent guest of gastric pain but last night it came to visit me. It came around 5plus and until 9pm, it was unbearable and painful that I quickly left office to take a cab back home to see doctor.

During the consultation, I told the doctor that I have regular meals and I did not skip my lunch. So how come I have gastric pain? The doctor replied saying it is usually those people who are stressed will have irregular meals and gastric pain. So the main cause is stress. It will cause the stomach to produce more gastric juice will in turn become gastric pain.

Does that means I am stressed? I have to admit that I was slightly stressed last night due to the amount of workload I am doing now. Sigh. Nevertheless the pain ceased after I took the medicine. Hopefully it will not come back later.

i watch

another Taiwanese 偶像剧 starring 陳喬恩 and 阮經天. Story is about a guy who accidentally made a gal pregnant and were forced to get married. During the marriage, they got 日久深情 but the return of the guy's girl friend changes everything.

It is now the highest ranking and most watched drama in Taiwan. Even my lady boss is watching it. Enough said, I need to go catch up on it now. Hehe! Must watch!

p/s : when you are watching episode 12, please prepare yourself some tissue. I was crying like crazy.

The Dark Knight

Caught the movie yesterday afternoon. Love the movie! Heath Ledger is really good in his role as The Joker. I feel he was the 焦点人物 rather than Batman. Haha! Nevertheless it is a great movie.

Today is my Saturday off but I still need to come back to work. Lucky I come back if not my bosses' faces will be black black. They will think how come there is so much work to do and I can still afford not to come back even though it is my off day.

True to my words, my lady boss actually went to ask my colleague...

colleague : 她好像会回来。

Recently there is a news about a Japanese guy who died of work exhaustion and he worked average of 80++hrs of OT every month! This is terrible!

Bosses are always like this, always take things for granted. They expect one to complete the work on time and it does not matter to them how much OT or how much work one has on hand at the moment. So us as employees will have to do alot of OT in order to finish the works on time.

When can we be like europeans or australians who off work on the dot and have time for personal and family life?

Finally I managed to catch the movie. Was not able to catch it in cinema but that was a good thing. Why? Because I was crying buckets when I was watching it last night in the comfort of my bed.

I cried when Mr Big stood Carrie up on their wedding day. I cried when they had a simple wedding ceremony towards the end of the show. It was a nice show. Love it!

alone

Hubby is away for the weekend to KL for company study trip. Kind of miss him now. But I guess he should be more happy to have a bed all to himself for 2 nights and not to hear my snoring. Haha!

So what I will be doing for the weekend? Tomorrow I will be going to visit my grandma with mum and sis and later in the afternoon will be heading down to Suntec for the Toys and Comics Exhbition because there is BLYTHE DOLL! Yeah!

OK I need to get back to my Sex And The City serial dvd, watching it the second time.

say goodbye

to my long hair of 7 years. Yesterday I paid a visit to my hair stylist and decided to have a change of hair style. So my hair stylist chopped off my long and heavy hair and gave it a short bob. Wow it feels like some weight had been taken off my head, very refreshing. Haha! Now I can wash my hair in the night and not to fear it will not be dry by the time I sleep.

Dear also went with me and trimmed his hair.

which is Hello Kitty! Found a Hello Kitty Fruit Drops in a tibit shop in Bugis Village. Kawaii! Could not resist the temptation to get it. Haha!

bad at Cantonese

I am a Hokkien and Hubby is a Cantonese. His whole family speaks in Cantonese because my FIL is from Hong Kong and he can only speak Cantonese and little Mandarin. As for me, my Hokkien is still passable but my cantonese fails! Literally I do not understand 90% of their conversation and I converse with the rest of the family members in English including my MIL. So I cannot really talk or chat with my FIL. Lucky MIL is a Sporean and she knows English and Mandarin, therefore I am able to chat with her.

Ever since after the wedding, I have been addressing my in laws as "lou ye" (老爷in cantonese) and "lai lai" (MIL in cantonese). Last night, my MIL told me to stop addressing them as "lou ye" and "lai lai" because I sounds weird as I have a kind of Hokkien accent while speaking in Cantonese. Even Hubby laughed at me. So pai seh. So from now on I shall call my in laws " ah pa" and "mum/mother".

Cantonese is so hard to master... I am a hopeless case....sigh!

Belated Bdae Dinner

Our little brother treated us to a belated bdae dinner! That was veru sweet of him. Thanks Ah boy! Maxime (bro's gf) gave us a handmade bdae card and a mascara from MMJ. Thanks gal!

4.00pm - On the way to watch movie, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of Crystal Skull at AMK Hub with Hubby.

6.30pm - Finish movie and decide to go Serangoon Gardens for dinner.

6.45pm - In the bus on the way to Serangoon Gardens

7.30pm - Dinner at Sushi Tei. Yummy sushi and sashimi!

8.30pm - Dessert at Haato, ice-cream time!

Mine is Wildberry and Rum and Rasins. Hubby's Lycee and Soursoup Sorbet. Yummy.
